There’s no better way to spend time with family than taking a road trip to see some of the grand sites that our country has to offer. One landmark that everyone should see at some point is the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Stretching nearly 10 miles across and descending an average depth of 1 mile, this 277-mile long canyon is the most breathtaking view that this little aviator has ever seen!

It's Not Just About the Destination, It's About the Journey

When I set out for the Grand Canyon I was overcome with excitement. I just couldn’t wait to explore the amazing landscape of the desert. Along the way, though, I kept coming across sites that I simply couldn’t pass.

During the trip, I stopped to see Yosemite National Park. I was blown away by the ancient sequoia trees that stretch upward as far as the eye can see. Iconic Bridal-veil Fall, which is one of the most well-known waterfalls in the park, was like nothing I’ve ever seen before!

Also, I had the chance to see the Hoover Dam. The construction of this dam took nearly five years to complete! It was hard not to marvel at this human-made structure and think about all of the power that it provides for families and businesses.

I learned a lot on this road trip, but one of the most important things was that you shouldn’t rush. Had I been in too much of a hurry to get to the Grand Canyon, I would have missed all of the amazing sites. As I always say, sometimes the best thing about traveling is the friends you make along the way.

Exploring the Grand Canyon

I was told many times how inspiring the Grand Canyon is, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The vast canyon stretched as far as my eyes could see and seemed to disappear into the bright blue sky.

Of course, I had to be reminded to be careful while exploring. I was told not to get too close to the edge when looking down into the canyon because I might fall. While it’s a beautiful sight, it’s important to put safety first.

When lunchtime rolled around, I had a picnic with my family on the side of the canyon. While I enjoyed eating my favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I couldn’t help but notice that it tasted better than usual. Maybe it was because I was in the middle of nature beside one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Maybe it was because I experienced it all with my family. Whatever the reason, that is one sandwich I will remember for the rest of my life.

Saying Farewell to the Grand Canyon

After a full day of exploring, it was time to say goodbye to the Grand Canyon. As the sun began to set, I was taken back by the beauty of where the sky and Grand Canyon met on the horizon. I stood there with my family marveling at the sight before me. I realized that the memories I made here would last a lifetime. My time at the Grand Canyon with my family is something that I will cherish forever.

While it was sad to leave the Grand Canyon, I know that it’s just one of many adventures I will take during my life. I’ll go on more trips to locations around the world and enjoy the time I have with my family and friends!

I can’t wait for my next grand adventure! Keep checking back for more adventures with me, Avi!
